The Voice of a Man

A family is over the moon when they are born. The mothers feel proud and the fathers are happy. The relatives say "Oh! that's a blessing". And then the society seals their fate with the rotten tagline - BE A MAN. The irony is that this same society doesn't allow a man to BE A NORMAL MAN.

Just like how pre-defined standards (read bu****it) are set for a woman, it's the same for a man. Don't Agree? Let's see. A man is weak if he cries. A man must go for a regular job to take care of the family. A man is not a man if he doesn't make his wife "know her place" in the house. Want me to go on? There is no escape for me from the shackles of the expectations that society sets for them right from their birth.

It's funny how there are no stories written about fathers who struggle to raise their kids after the mother deserts them, a man who got sexually abused by a woman is never on the news, a depressed man? Hush! Hush! We have heard about women breaking the stereotypical way of "being a woman" and creating a revolution. Why not about a man? No, it's not because a man doesn't go through these. It's because of the hidden messages that lie in "BE A MAN". (Slow claps to the society). It's a terrible facade!

I have come across many commendable men in my life (Not going to mention about the ones who did not deserve to be born in the first place) These men are bloody WARRIORS! They are warriors because they cry when they are hurt, they express their emotions even when they are sober, they treat their wife like the way she must be treated, get sandwiched in the conflicts between their mother and wife and also between their wife and children. There are another set of men that I adore - the 'house husbands'. There are also men who bleed in their heart and mind the whole night and get ready for an office meeting in the morning like nothing ever happened. Sounds familiar? It sure does, because we have faced the same!

You would have these men in your lives too. The one who is always supporting you and encouraging you to go fight the world, the one who freed you from your misery and taught you that the world has good men too, the one who can lay his life down for you.  Aren't WARRIORS the word for them?

It's time we actually considered MEN EQUAL TO WOMEN! You read it right because while women started getting their own way out while the society stood facepalming behind them, it's the men who are still drowning in the pool of horrifying prenotions.

As women, let's get this drilled in our mind - ALL MEN ARE NOT THE SAME. Be the woman who gives a hand to raise a man up, be the woman that a man can confide in, be the woman who frees a man. be the woman who makes a man feel that he is an equal. Above all, BE A WOMAN WHO IS THE VOICE OF A MAN.

Men don't deserve just one day. They need to be reminded every day what they are actually worthy of. We are all equally guilty of forgetting how the world would be without our counterparts, the MEN. Let's forget gender bias, forget feminism, forget inequality. This Men's day, let's vow to make a small difference to the lives of men. Let's be that woman who is the role model for a MAN.

Remember that the men of quality deserve women's equality.

Love, Respect and Hugs.

- From a NORMAL WOMAN.
